The Kano State Government has announced plans to recruit 17,600 security guards to ensure maximum security for public schools across the state's 44 local government areas. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf disclosed that 400 security personnel will be stationed in each local government area to safeguard students and teachers.
Additional Initiatives: The government has also introduced other education reforms, including:
Solarization of Schools: 200 schools will be solarized to improve infrastructure.
Instructional Materials: Distribution of materials to enhance learning.
Employment of BESDA Staff: Plans to permanently employ qualified staff.
"This decision was born out of our administration's commitment to protect our children and teachers from emerging security threats. We cannot afford to allow fear or insecurity to disrupt the education of our future leaders," Governor Yusuf said.
The governor has emphasized that security, education, and youth empowerment are key pillars of his administration's agenda and has called on parents, community leaders, and traditional institutions to support the government's efforts.
