Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has engaged 484 elected councillors from the state's 44 local government areas in a bid to drive grassroots development. The Governor announced plans to implement N4.8 billion worth of projects in areas such as school renovations, borehole drilling, dispensary construction, and local scholarships.
Speaking at the meeting held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, Governor Yusuf tasked the councillors to propose projects that would directly impact the lives of people at the grassroots level, particularly in education.
The Governor also urged the councillors to maintain a cordial relationship with their chairmen and remain committed to serving their wards. He commiserated with communities affected by recent security unrest and assured that the government is working with security agencies to contain the situation.
Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Isma'il Jibril Falgore, emphasized the need for a smooth working relationship between councils and chairmen for peaceful governance.
The Governor's initiative aims to ensure equitable distribution of development projects and deepen democracy at the grassroots level.
